Christine Haynes - Sylvie Dress Pattern

The Sylvie Dress is a fun fit and flare dress that will suit all your spring and summertime needs!

Both views of the Sylvie Dress feature an unlined sleeveless bodice, with three small darts under the bust, a wide lined waistband, and back bodice darts. The neckline and armholes are finished with bias-binding, and the dress is closed with an invisible zipper up the center back.

View A has an unlined gathered dirndl skirt that can be cut on the length of grain, or on the crossgrain, for use on a border print or for fabric with a finished selvage like eyelet. The skirt is topped with large rectangle patch pockets. The waistband and pockets can be cut on grain, or on the bias, as pictured with the gingham fabric in the photos.

View B has piping above and below the waistband, and features an unlined pencil skirt that is fitted with waist darts. The piping can be made with self-fabric, as in the orange linen in the photos, or with contrast fabric, as in the beige polka-dot fabric in the photos.

Fabrics for View A of the Sylvie Dress is best in lightweight woven fabrics, like quilt weight cotton, cotton shirting, lawn, swiss dot, double gauze, linen, chambray, or seersucker. View B can also be made in medium weight woven fabrics, like cotton or linen canvas or barkcloth.

Note: The yardage listed for the two views include self-made bias binding and piping. If using pre-made versions of either of these items, the yardage can be reduced.

The Sylvie Dress is sized from 0–18 and all sizes are included.

This pattern's difficulty is rated at "three spools" which is perfect for an intermediate sewer!
