This is a Learn as you Sew Pattern! You’ll learn essential tips and techniques about sewing bags as you create this project. I’ll take you step-by-step so you’ll produce a professional looking bag. The finished size of this bag is 16” wide at base, 13” high, and 6” deep.
I recommend using quilting cotton or canvas for the exterior and contrast. However, I encourage you to try using cork fabric or a light weight vinyl for the contrast. With this option, to help reduce bulk, you can eliminate the heavy stabilizer (-3/4 yard) for the train case bottom. Quilting cotton can be used for the lining. This bag has a more professional, long-lasting finish if the recommended fabrics are used. If you are concerned about sewing the train case bottom, I would suggest to make the entire bag out of quilting cotton.
