This is a beginner to advanced beginner pattern and features a modern traditional aesthetic. The pattern includes full color diagrams, easy to follow instructions, and a coloring page for customizing your own quilt. This quilt is inspired by an all time classic block, the churn dash. With a little tweaking a new modern block appears. This pattern works great with solids, prints, or a combination of the two!
Finished size: 60" x 75"
MQG Quilt of the Month February 2018
Do you recognize this block? There’s a churn dash hiding in there. This quilt takes the basic units of a classic block and plays with the relationship between negative and positive space to make an entirely fresh new design. Most people have seen those black and white pictures that illustrate the profiles of two people but if you look at it long enough it turns into a table lamp or vase. Now look at your favorite quilt block and do the same thing. By changing up the negative and positive space in a block you will be able to change the entire look. Take a step further and rotate the different units within the block or play with the proportions to change it up completely!
