Cosmo Nishikiito Metallic Embroidery Floss
Nishikiito is a metallic thread for hand embroidery from Cosmo Japan. This thread is crafted with the same technique that produces gold thread for traditional Japanese clothing in Kyoto. Nishikiito is available in 5 different styles of metallic threads that create stunning accents in a wide variety of needlework and craft projects.
Not recommended for machine use.
Nishiki (colors 02-23)
Nishiki style is the type often used for Obi (the belt for a kimono). This thread has subtle metallic colors and is resistant to friction, good for not only stitching but also making tatting lace and tassels.
Approx. 20 meter per spool / Equivalent to No. 5 to 6 count
Kagami (colors 24-33)
Kagami style is sparklier thanks to the twist and abundant glitter. It is soft and is best for cross-stitch and embroidery.
Approx. 20 meter per spool / Equivalent to No. 14 count
Opali (colors 101-112)
Opali style has a smooth texture and multi-color reflection like Opal stones. The semitransparent look allows light to faintly pass it through and creates a unique dimensional reflection.
Approx. 20 meter per spool / Equivalent to No. 11 count
(Opali was formerly known as Shabon-Dama thread, now available as nishikiito.)
Champagni (colors 201-206)
Champagni style has pastel colored sparkles like the bubbles in champagne. With its soft and smooth hand, it is comfortable to stitch.
Approx. 20 meter per spool / Equivalent to No. 10 count
Neoni (colors 301-306)
Neoni style is an eye-catching, bright color series. These threads give dramatic impact to your needlework even with just a small amount. You can also use as many strands as you like depending on your projects - each strand is extra-fine.
Approx. 50 meter per spool / Equivalent to No. 25 count
