Traditional Japanese Fabric Techniques

If you've ever examined traditional Japanese items made from chirimen fabrics, you may have marvelled at the complex construction techniques - braiding, twisting, weaving, knotting, "knitting", etc. This book illustrates these techniques with clear, step-by-step illustrations. Although the projects in the book feature traditional Japanese fabrics, you can easily update these techniques using contemporary fabrics and palettes.

Note that the book is written in Japanese, but patterns and schematics are included. Crafters who cannot read Japanese but who have some sewing experience are usually able to interpret the instructions without any trouble, and others can use the projects as inspiration for their own creations.
